Professor Richard Trembath joins Genomics plc’s Scientific Advisory Board
Oxford, UK, 26 April 2016: We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Richard Trembath to Genomics plc’s Scientific Advisory Board. Professor Trembath is a recognised leading researcher in genes and molecular pathways. He is the Principal investigator and Co-Director of one of the world’s most exciting population genomics programmes, known as East London Genes and Health, which aims to sequence the genes of 100,000 people of Pakistani and Bangladeshi heritage.
Professor Trembath presently holds the academic leadership position of Executive Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at Kings College London. Prior to this, he was Vice-Principal for Health at Queen Mary University of London and Executive Dean of the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, which he joined from the position of Head of Division of Genetics & Molecular Medicine, also at Kings College. He was also the founding Director of the National Institute for Health Research Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre in association with Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Professor Trembath serves on Advisory and Editorial Boards and Committees of numerous national and international journals and academic societies. He is past President of The British Society of Human Genetics.
Professor Trembath trained in Medicine at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, undertook postgraduate studies in genetics at the Institute of Child Health in London and moved to the University of Leicester in 1992, being appointed to the Foundation Chair of Medical Genetics in Leicester in 1998, before moving to King’s in the summer of 2005. He is Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and a former Senior Investigator for the National Institute of Health Research.
