Continued Growth with Top Talent Joining the Cambridge Office

Cambridge, UK, 26 September 2018: Following our recent successful Series B fundraise and multi-year collaboration agreement with Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc, Genomics plc continues to grow and we are delighted to announce two further appointments to our Cambridge office:

Dan Gaffney joins as Head of Cellular Genetics

After gaining his PhD in evolutionary genetics from Edinburgh University, he pursued a postdoc at McGill University and the Genome Quebec Innovation Centre, followed by research on population genetic variation in gene expression and regulation at the University of Chicago. He joined the Wellcome Sanger Institute in 2011 where his research combines computational and experimental techniques to map and characterise genetic variants that alter cellular traits. Dan will split his time to continue his work at the Institute whilst leading our efforts to understand the effect of genetic variation on cell function, and building our expertise in human cellular models of disease processes and single cell genomics.

Josh Randall joins as Head of Informatics

Josh holds an S.B. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from MIT and a D.Phil in Statistical Genetics from the University of Oxford. He recently led the Human Genetics Informatics team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, which is responsible for handling the informatics needs of the Human Genetics research programme, including processing of hundreds of thousands of human genomes. Josh will scale-up our core technology to handle similar volumes of data.

“Both Josh and Dan bring creativity and key expertise for the next phase of our company, and will allow us to take advantage of new technologies to complement our existing analysis engine,” said Jeff Barrett, CSO. “It’s also great to be building out the team in Cambridge, and we look forward to continuing to draw on the fabulous pool of local talent.”

We have a number of vacancies open across both our Oxford and Cambridge offices, so please click here for our current opportunities to join us during this exciting time.
