Dr. Deborah Thompson
As part of the Precision Health team, I am working to optimise the way we use genetic data in risk prediction.
I am a genetic epidemiologist with research interests in genetic predisposition to common cancers and disease-related quantitative traits.
During my PhD studies at Cambridge University I estimated cancer risks associated with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at IARC. As a Principal Research Associate within the Cambridge University Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology I played leading roles in several international consortia.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my two children, being part of a local church, making novelty cakes and attempting to grow chilli plants.
