Dr. Ed Mountjoy

I use genomic data to understand disease biology and prioritise targets in early drug discovery.

I have a background in genetics, computational biology and statistical genetics. My expertise is in the application of large scale analysis and integration of diverse datasets in order to generate novel insights.

Before joining Genomics plc I worked at the Wellcome Sanger Institute developing the Open Targets Genetics portal, a resource for exploring results across all publicly available genome-wide association studies. This work included the design and implementation of systematic fine mapping and colocalisation pipelines, and the development of a machine learning framework to improve gene prioritisation and scoring. I completed my PhD at the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit in Bristol where I was investigating the shared genetic determinants of visual and cognitive traits, primarily in the ALSPAC and UK Biobank cohorts.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, cycling, and camping.
