Izel Fourie Sørensen

Associate Scientist

Currently, I contribute to the search for possible drug targets by reviewing the literature on different diseases.

I have some experience with genomic prediction models and testing for genome wide association using single marker and multi marker methods that incorporate prior biological information.

I have a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry which included studying the neuroprotective effects of phytoestrogens. Following my postdoc I have worked as a hospital pharmacist and later as retail pharmacist. It was during my part time job as retail pharmacist that I started to work on the analysis of genetic data.

In my spare time I practice a little bit of ballet and, thanks to youtube, a bit of yoga when I get the chance.
