Prof. Michael Simpson
Head of Human Genetics
My role is to oversee our human genetics analytical engines.
More generally I’m a human geneticist with an interest in the genetic and mechanistic basis of human disease – and using this understanding to inform diagnostics and clinical management.
I’ve led and contributed to many successful research projects that have identified the genetic causes of a wide range of rare diseases. It’s immensely satisfying to work with families that have rare diseases and to uncover the causes.
In addition to my role at Genomics, I am currently Professor of Genetics at King’s College London where I lead the Genomic Medicine research group.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time looking after my young family.
